Philips Privacy Policy for the Internet
  1. Philips is a leading global electronics company, and is dedicated to protecting the privacy of the personally identifiable information our customers choose to share with us, wherever they live or travel. We follow the principles of disclosure and choice, which allow Philips to provide desired information and services to our customers while protecting their personally identifiable information. Personally identifiable information is information that can be associated with a specific individual or entity, including, for example, a customer’s name, address, or telephone number, e-mail address, personal preferences and information about on-line activities that are directly linked to him/her.

  2. Many of our visitors choose to share their personally identifiable information with Philips by registration, with the confidence that it will be used responsibly. By doing so, they can take advantage of a number of useful services. Convenient on-line warranty registration after you have purchased a Philips product is fast and secure (available soon). Visitors who register for our convenient SmartConnect database will be able to migrate their registration and other personally identifiable information to new generations of Philips digital products as these come on line, without having to register again. Philips Passport registrants, newsletter subscribers, direct product purchasers and contest entrants also share personally identifiable information with us so that we can contact them with the kinds of information they have chosen to receive.

  3. Not everyone chooses to share personally identifiable information just because they visit a site. This web site asks you whether you would like to receive new information or be contacted, and gives you the opportunity to opt out of doing so. If you do register, you also have the right to change your mind in the future, and you can view your profile (in real time in most cases) to make changes or withdraw your consent to receive information, or for other uses of your personally identifiable information. Of course, in the unlikely event that Philips receives a court order or is otherwise legally compelled to release any personally identifiable information, we will be legally required to comply, even if such compliance would otherwise be contrary to Philips’ privacy policy.

  4. Some of our web sites will send a "cookie," a small summary file of who you are, to your computer to give you the courtesy of instant recognition the next time you visit, without bothering you with another request to register. If you do not wish to be recognized refer to your Internet Browser to erase cookies from your computer hard drive, block all cookies, or receive a warning before a cookie is stored.

  5. This web site collects personally identifiable information that the web site uses to service our customers’ individual needs and interests. This is the primary use of personally identifiable information. As a secondary use, this web site may further meet customer needs by occasionally sharing data with other Philips divisions whose products or special offers you may find useful. This web site may also from time to time share personally identifiable information and/or aggregated data with responsible partner companies. Such aggregated data may include warranty registration and purchasing data, statistics about our customers, sales, traffic patterns and related site information. You can tell us to restrict access to your personally identifiable information at time of registration or at any subsequent time. From time to time, this web site may provide links to other web sites. You should carefully review the privacy policies on those sites; they may differ from the Philips privacy policy.

  6. Philips takes significant steps to protect your personally identifiable information with secure servers, from simple name registration to encrypted financial data used in e-commerce transactions. It is Philips policy that communications with Philips service personnel (i.e., help lines, product inquiries) will be treated with confidence by designated Philips personnel. The content of such communications will be shared within Philips on an "as needed" basis, to answer the inquiries. Because Philips sells thousands of products in hundreds of countries, you may have registered for a warranty through the mail or in some other manner. Your decision NOT to register online will not cancel contacts that occur as a result of your previous offline registration, but you always have the option to unsubscribe to such online contact. Also, Philips web sites may make chat rooms, forums, message boards and/or newsgroups available to its users. Please remember that any personally identifiable information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information and you should exercise caution in deciding to disclose your personally identifiable information.

  7. As a trusted household name for over 100 years, Philips’ relationship with its customers is paramount. We seek to know you better so we can serve you better, but the choice of whether you want that kind of service is up to you. If for some reason you believe Philips has not adhered to these principles, please notify us by clicking the "Talk" button at www.philips.com, and we will use commercially reasonable efforts to promptly determine and correct the problem.
